Khorne Tower of Skulls Part 1

I've not really been in the painting mood over the last few days and felt the urge to do yet more building. Something I've wanted to make for a long time is a Khorne Tower of Skulls. I've made a small start on one. So far it's just a basic baneblade chassis with a FW Khorne Icon on the front.

On the battlefield!

You've seen all these wonderful models of mine *cough* but what about their performance on the battlefield? Well today I played a 1250 point mission with my chaos. The mission was one from the 40k radio campaign. I found the mission very enjoyable and due to my opponents really bad dice rolling, I won!

So here are some pics from the front line. The missions uses no terrain apart from the central building but we had a road which we made no use of.

My damon prince hiding behind a bastion ready to pounce.

My bikes and noise marines managed to eventually kill the assault terminators. In an epic combat that later included veterans and lasted 3 turns.

My daemon prince was definatly man of the match, killing two tactical squads in combat. That's two out of the three scoring units dealt with.

Wondering how my noise marines survived in combat against the terminators and veterans. One turn they caused 11 wounds. I saved 10!

My soul grinder is filling in as a defiler until I make one. He had great joy helping my daemon prince eat the second tactical squad.

Work on the desk

I have realised that my lack of recent progress is due to painting too many similar models and colour schemes. After painting a Nurgle Rhino and Plague Marine squad I've found it hard to start on the other Plague Marine squad and I've still got some bikers to do yet also. As far as the Crimson Fists go, I've made a start on the Sternguard sergeant but even with the Crimson Fists I need a break to avoid boredom.

I ordered Lucius the Eternal and a Slaanesh lord from GW and made my Noise Marine Champion and Noise Marine with Blastmaster out of them (I already have the Slaanesh weapons pack). Using a few other bits, including some MKV legs from Forgeworld, I made a 3rd Noise Marine. Now if you remember my chaos army list you will have known that I don't have any SOnic Weapons in my squad apart from the Doom Siren. Whilst that is true, I couldn't pass up using those awesome weapons and who knows, I might use them one day.

I recently watched all 3 Lord of the Rings films again after not seeing them for some years. Natuarally this made me want all the miniatures! I used to have some back when the films first came out but sold them. I regret that now but after looking through GWs website and almost dying from how expensive these are, I looked on eBay and managed to pick up loads of unpainted minis for a fraction of the price.

My first piece is Sauron.

I have plenty of other ideas for LOTR dioramas which I hope to make sometime in the future. In the meantime I have these guys to give me something different to paint.

Crimson Fist Terminator Squad

I have finished painting my Crimson Fist Terminator Squad. These guys, like most of my Crimson Fist army, have been sitting around unpainted for some while. The sergeant was built before I even started this army. I would guess he is a couple of years old. Finally they are all painted!

The sergeant misplaced his power weapon so indtead he ripped a lampost out from the ground and wields that as his close combat weapon instead!!

Nurgle Rhino

I have finished painting my Nurgle infested rhino for my Plague Marine Squad. The giant Nurgle symbol on top was made with bases and spikes from the chaos vehicle ram. This idea was not mine, I saw someone else had done something similar on another website just cannot find the link at the moment. I just need some skulls or something to add to the centre of the bases.

The Rhino was painted the same was as the Plague Marines. I've used green stuff in various places as well as the Forgeworld Death Guard doors.

Duke Sliscus Conversion

As you can see I've not posted much at all this month. This is not because I've not been painting, in fact painting too much has been the cause of lack of posts. I am in the middle of painting too much at the moment so instead of getting one unit, character or vehicle completed I have 3 half finished. Despite not liking to post half finished miniatures I thought I would share my converted Dark Eldar character Duke Sliscus. He's almost finished and for now I'm going to leave his base untouched.

The conversion is quite simple. I've used parts from the Dark Elves Black Corsairs and parts from the Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors set. As his rules allows so much change to your army I thought it would be cool to have him in a pose which suggests he is standing back watching his army fight, waiting for his moment to strike, like the Yakuza guy in the Simpsons. The only video for that reference I could find was in Spanish, forgiveness please.

On to the Duke!

Watch this space over the next couple of weeks. I am currently working on a Nurgle Rhino for my Plagues Marines, a Crimson Fist Terminator squad and even more Plague Marines will follow.

Scyrak Is Finished!

I've mainly been working on painting Scyrak over the last week. He is now finally done. He's been very enjoyable to paint and I've learnt how to improve painting flesh and the red and gold armour has came out very well in my opinion.
