Slight Hiatus

There wont be much in the way of wargaming for me over the next few weeks. I'm currently renovating my new house so my free time will be very limited, especially when trying to run Bitzbox and Wargamer's World at the same time!

Sisters of Silence

Along with my Custodes, I want a small squad of Sisters of Silence which I plan to use as Death Cult Assassins. I found a tutorial on the Interwebs which showed a really neat way of making easy Sisters of Silence.

What I've used here is the mouthpiece from an old Dark Eldar warrior and turned it upside down for the bottom of the helmets, the top half of the head is also a dark eldar warrior, as is the torso. The legs are from the new Dark Eldar Wyches. All the weapons are from the empire range, mostly the Empire Militia. The little bolt pistols are from the rogue trader space marines. I still need to touch up the GS work.

Dipping Tyranids

You remember a few months ago I did an article on quickly painting Nids with washes. Well I've tried another method for the first time now which is dipping. If you've never come across dipping before, you basically paint the basecoat colours of the model then dip them in a dipping solution. In this case it's Army Painters Quick Shade.

Here are the results:

I'm not a huge fan of this method but it does look quite nice on the bleached bone. Certainly useful for painting up a load of bugs quickly.

Look Big Daddy, There's Regular Daddy

I've seen a couple of conversions floating about the Internet of Ork Meganobz being converted up like the Big Daddy from the Bioshock series of games. I had to make my own and have so far made and painted two out of the three I plan to make.

These are actually quite simple conversions. They use the Ork Meganobz body and right arm. The head is made from a part from The Empire Mortar and a Chaos Space Marine Vehicle Searchlight. The other arm is from a plastic ork nob and uses the Drill from the Killa Kan box.
